Association des Peintres du Gaillacois

Our association was founded in 1961 by a small group of enthusiasts artists and is the longest established cultural association in the market town of Gaillac, the third town in the Tarn, South west France.

To day we continue in that same spirit and invite your to explore our site and get to know more about us and how we operate.

For 55 years, we have organised a major annual exhibition featuring many artists from within the region as well as further afield. We also participate in a numbers of local and regional exhibitions and artistic activities.

Historical note

Since its conception, local artist André Escrive took the Gaillac Painters Association under his wing. He was passionate about painting and about the town of Gaillac; the town of vines.

His dedicated time to the association over a period of 40 years ensured the continuity of the annual exhibition "Salon des Peintres du Gaillacois".

In 2003, the mayor of Gaillac name a street in his honour.

Our objective

As a group of artists from beginners to Advanced, we discuss art and aim to learn, improve or perfect kwnoledge and techniques in drawing and painting. We work in a relaxed yet focused artistic environment with help, guidance and advice our professionals artists..

The techniques

From abstract through to figurative art, everyone is free to choose their own artistic style, subject and technique. Xe have the opportunity to acquire, or consolidate différents interests : drawing, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, oils etc...

The studio-workshop

Studio-workshop sessions run every thursday evening from 20h30 to 22h30 and every monday early evening from 17h00 to 19h00. They start during the second week of september and continue to the end of the school year, with breaks corresponding with the school holidays.

Thursday evening sessions have two tutors and the monday early evening sessions only one.



Membeship : 20 € (membre honoraire).


allows each member to exhibit at our annual exhibition and attend our non-tutored workshop sessions.


An additional supplement is charged for attendance of any of the tutored workshop sessions. Full membership (membre actif) is an additional 110 € for the sessions of monday or thursday and of 220 € for the sessions of monday and thursday.


Occasionaly we have a specific workshop based on a named theme; example : life model, perspective, collage, etc... Where necessary a small Financial contribution may be requested. Theme sessions are open to all members with a supplement of 10 € payable only by all "membre honoraire" attending.
